Attracting the Passive Job Candidate


At Pinnacle we are very proud of how we position our clients in the marketplace and strategically target and market their opportunities to potential candidates. Over the years we’ve studied how the passive and active candidate are our primary targets, and we recognize that the passive candidate would never consider moving no matter what offer you made to them.  We believe that oftentimes the best candidates are often passively looking at job opportunities because they are happy in their current position.   People who are happy in their current jobs are considered to be one of the best types of employees, and in these cases it usually requires the perfect opportunity to be presented to them before they would consider making a change.

In the current job market, we estimate that the passive job candidate market can be as high 80% of the physician field.   Since there is no guaranteed singular marketing avenue that can be used to reach this large and varied field of candidates, the key in the Pinnacle process is that we focus on proactive mass marketing techniques.   Through decades of refining our healthcare recruiting process, we have determined that a successful campaign will utilize a multitude of avenues in order to attract the passive candidate.  For example a normal campaign no longer utilizes direct mail unless we use it in a targeted and specific manner.   Instead we focus on varied email campaigns, popular job boards, attractive job listings, social media, text campaigns, conventions, and a whole host of specialty specific techniques.

Timing is also a major issue to consider.  A passive candidate, who is not actively job searching, may not react to a job board listing or text or email in one day.  But the same attractive job listing, viewed over time, may produce a response a month later so successful campaigns are implemented over weeks and sometimes months.
