Tips for Success on a New Job!

  • Don't mention where you come from!
  • Don't try to change anything until you've been there for a while.
  • Don't say: "we always used to do it this way."
  • Only talk 25% of the time and listen 75% of the time.
  • Listen intently.
  • Keep eye contact while listening.
  • Never display anger.
  • Never discuss politics, religion, or sex!
  • Show appreciation.
  • Ask questions. Questions should make up most of your 25% talking time.
  • Practice good eating and sleeping habits.
  • Be helpful.
  • Smile.
  • Memorize everyone's names.
  • Arrive at work 30 minutes early.
  • Keep a sense of humor.
  • Be trustworthy.
  • Don't bring your ego to work with you.
  • Be curious.
  • Don't burn bridges.
  • Neatness counts.
  • Be friendly, upbeat, and eager to work.
